Kimono and textile design

Kimono and textile design for the Japanese culture house SferaBuilding in Kyoto. The starting point in the design process, and collaboration with Japanese craftsmen, was to highlight a dying kimono culture and modernize the expression with new designs, materials and accessories. But with a concern for Japanese tradition and cultural history. The kimonos has been exhibited in Kyoto, Tokyo, Milan and Helsinki. The textiles were also represented in the exhibition “Seductive surfaces” at the Design Museum in London and at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. Collaborators Shiego Mashiro, Takeshi Wakabayashi and Motoko Morita. Kimono photography by Muga Miyahara.
