Profile

Markus Moström Design is a Stockholm based design studio working internationally since 1997. Clients include large and small corporations, cultural institutions, stores, manufacturers and artists.

Markus Moström Design is specialized in visual and corporate identities and has also completed a broad range of graphic work for various categories of clients during the past twelve years.

“We create frameworks for the communication of companies, both internally and externally. We believe in the power of design as the means of bringing diverse visual aspects of an organisation together - from printed communication to architecture - into a coherent public image. The basic idea of our work is to create a total visual identity based on the needs of each client. The excellent results of our work rely on our external network including some of the best consultants of various professional fields in Sweden.”

Services

Beside logotype designs and company profiles commissions range from exhibition design, event graphics, packaging design, book design and catalogues. Markus Moström Design promotes relevant ideas with a high artistic standard irrespective of project and size, convinced that design matters and makes a difference.

“We believe that design has a great influence on business. And through the years we have helped clients reaching new levels in their communication and sales figures.”

Markus Moström extended the field of activity of his studio by designing kimonos, textiles and carpets during 2005-06. These are now produced by Ricordi & Sfera in Japan.

The first piece of furniture was produced by Offecct for a private villa in 2007.

Design Process

Design management and strategy are common selling points at design and advertising agencies. Basically design management is a controlled design process, as a rational reductive activity that moves logically like a scientific experiment towards a clearly defined end.

“Our design studio uses design management as a tool in the communication with the client in order to reach a reliable result. But nevertheless and foremost our work is imbued with intuitive judgements based on knowledge and experience. We interpret briefs through design experiments and workshops. Somewhere in between the brief and production, strategy becomes image. The method is not to follow the client’s own assumptions about the solution. We would rather describe it as reading between the lines. Searching beyond the obvious, we don’t give the clients what they think they want, but what they never could dream of.

Design work is more or less problem solving. By given information we sort and simplify, trying to find the answers. Which information is to be discarded and which is to be kept? What will be useful and what matters – taking into consideration the trends and current attitudes in society.

We search for a unique solution for the client, striving towards both recognition and surprise.”
